I tried to make upgrades to this site and was promised by Blogger that my template would be saved. I cannot find the location where it was supposedly saved and now I lost my blogroll and all the other information on the left margin.
Sometimes it is better to leave well enough alone.

Just type "Instructivist" in Google, and open the cached version of your page.
At the bottom, you will find all your links.
I really appreciate that advice.
I did as you suggested, went to source and was able to rescue the code. I saved it in a file. So that's a giant first step.
Now template won't accept the old code I put in.
It says: Your template could not be parsed as it is not well-formed. Please make sure all XML elements are closed properly.
XML error message: The markup in the document following the root element must be well-formed.
I hope to be able to tweak it enough to make it accept the code. Of course, I am no code genius.
Ah. Find all instances of [/tag] and replace them with [tag /]. That should do it. (Change those brackets to angle brackets.)

You mean greater than and less than?
I can't find those slash tags either.
Can I e-mail you my original template file?
